I’ve been training in Taekwon-Do since 1984 when I was only four years old. My dad was training and about to open his first Taekwon-Do school when he asked me if I wanted to go to class with him (who doesn’t want to hang out with DAD when you’re four?!). He gave me my uniform and said, “Get in class!” I responded with a “Yes Sir!” and have been training ever since.
In 1995 successfully I earned a spot on the U.S. Jr. Taekwon-Do Team which competed in the 3rd Jr. ITF World Championships is Warsaw, Poland and marked the beginning of a long, successful and well traveled competition career. I’ve competed in 15 different countries, been a member of eight U.S. Taekwon-Do teams winning numerous medals over the years and took gold in South Korea in 2004.
At the age of 18 I began running our second Karstadt Taekwon-Do location and have had the privilege of being able to teach Taekwon-Do for a living! Today we have highly trained instructors who manage the school and all of our marketing is automated and done online.
When I wasn’t teaching, my time was devoted to learning business operations, marketing, human psychology and human potential. I wanted the schools to be a successful business and I wanted to learn as much about people as I could to become a better instructor.
All of my Taekwon-Do training, business experience and knowledge of human behavior have come together to form this site, which I trust will make a difference in your experience of living life.
Personally, I am married to my beautiful wife MaryAnne and we have three children – Ava, John David & Tyla.
