Ok… For some reason it seems as if I’ve been interacting with a lot of people lately who just want to bitch, complain and waste time telling me about everything they have to deal with, how tough things are and how they are suffering.
To me that is one of lowest states of operating for human beings. By that, I mean being consumed with how powerless one is.
At my Taekwon-Do school and even at home I’ve adopted the saying, No Blaming, No Complaining, No excuses.
I want you to really let this soak in and think about this for a second.
If you couldn’t blame someone else for your circumstances, for why your life is the way it is, if you couldn’t complain about it, and finally you couldn’t justify any of it with excuses…
What would you be left with? What would you say? What would you talk about?
If you truly took on No Blaming, No Complaining and No Excuses, all you would be left with is being responsible for the life you have right in front of you.
Four year old’s get this. I don’t interact with them when they come to me with complaints and excuses. I tell them to come back and talk to me when they’ve figured out what they are going to do about it. And they do!
We ALL have circumstances. We are all dealing with something, whether it’s the performance of your Taekwon-Do school, your kids, your weight, your relationships or cleaning your house!
You will never, not have circumstances in your life. Everyone is always dealing with something all the time. The day you don’t have any circumstances to deal with is the day you die.
Focusing on your circumstances will rob you of all your power. You have very little control over your circumstances, but you have 100% control over how you are going to react under any circumstances.
You may not be able to keep that tornado from tearing your house apart, keep your family member from dying from a blood clot, keep that employee from quitting, or your child from falling and breaking an arm… but you CAN control what you do and what you have to say about it.
Your reaction can be whatever you choose, so make sure it’s something that empowers you!
